Leaving Korea - The feelings
nateonseoul:
Now that I’ve finished 90% of the last Cass I’ll have for a long time, I thought I’d dive into my psyche a bit.
This whole leaving thing is strange. I’ve been abroad since October of 2009. Egypt for 5 months, then Korea for 2 years. So I’m used to the change. Leaving for Egypt was terrifying, and my arrival didn’t go as smooth as one would hope. When I finally settled, I still...

A Masked Country

Some of my students are trying to start an English newspaper (I am practically weeping for joy right now, you guys.) and asked me to check their articles for grammatical errors. Most have been about events that have happened, but one column is an essay, and it’s one that completely floors me, both in terms of subject matter and grammar. She writes about wanting...

Dear January,
seoulintranslation:
The great thing about having a new camera (with awesome video settings) is being motivated to use it to its full potential. Lucky for me, there are great tutorials online & amazing friends that have been helping me along the way. This is the first official video for 2012, so here’s January’s video celebrating a few of my favorite people, places, & FOOD in Korea that I...

Oops...?
When asked yesterday if I needed to dress up for today’s closing ceremonies and the MS 3rd graders’ graduation ceremony, my coteachers suggested a suit…
So, naturally, of course I’d be the only male staff member aside from the principal to wear a suit today.
Awwwkwaaaarrrrdddd…
(=_=)”“
To top things off, thanks to all the weight I’ve lost since...

New Bucket List Item: Spontaneous International... →
The link above will direct you to the Seoul/Incheon International Airport daily departure flight list (just click on the tiny “Today’s Departure Status” button).
It’s fun looking at all the flights that’re going to take off each day.
Stealing the idea from a friend of mine here who wants to do it in the summer. I may or may not join him, depending on how things work...

PandEPIK Pandemonium: Happy Chinese New Year from... →
osolage:
This made me laugh. In Korea … celebrates Chinese New year
(^_^) Y U No Seollal?
I’m not sure if you intended or even realized it, but this definitely offended me a tad.
Regarding your question of why I’m not celebrating Seollal, the Korean New Year…
Why? Because I’m Chinese-American.
In other words, my ethnicity is Chinese and my nationality is American.

Happy Chinese New Year from Seoul! 新年快乐! 새해 복 많이...
It’s been a while since I’ve updated, but, rest assured, lots of photos are on the way through my processing queue. I’ve been resting, hanging out with people, meeting up with some old friends from all over the world, and starting to learn Korean (with an official textbook and everything, haha).
As for Chinese New Year celebrations… I was going to cook lots of Chinese food...

Lalalalala!
Day 1 of my last week of winter camp is over! Time to power through the rest of this week and then start my restful vacation! =D .
Also cut my three-week paid winter vacation at the end of February down to two so that I can take an extra one week of unofficial vacation in the winter and save that third week of paid vacation to go on two one-week trips in the summer. Essentially, I...
